  • I went into this movie really wanting to like this movie, even know I thought the trailers were really bad, and I did end up liking this movie. It isn't a great movie, and definitely isn't close to the original, but this is a entertaining one for sure. Most of the jokes landed, around 75% if them got at least a chuckle from me. The special effects were pretty good. The neon style was actually pretty cool. All of the proformances from the ghostbusters were pretty good, the standout being Kate McKinnon, who got the best miteral in the film. I was also surprised how much I laughed at Chris Harmsworth, who I thought I'd hate in the movie. The battle sequences when the ghostbusters actually catch ghosts was pretty kick ass. As for cons, the script around the jokes definitely wasn't the best. It had a bunch of science fiction mumbo jumbo that flew over the heads of most if the people in the audience. Paul Feig's direction wasn't that great. It seemed at some points that his style didn't really fit in with the style of the film, and really felt out of place. The cameos from the surviving ghostbusters wasn't that good. They just felt shoehorned in. The cinimotography overall felt bland, like the cinimotographer didn't add anything to the film in any way. Oh yeah, and the stupid ghostbusters theme played mid movie, and I still hate it. Overall, I actually recommend ghostbusters, because it's a fun time in a summer where those movies are hard to come by.
