  • A rather underrated film, Shyamalan followed up one of the best thriller movies of all time, with a film that sported a thriller coat, with a superhero interior. Unbreakable features a magnificent score, an oscar worthy performance from Willis, and a myriad of inventive film techniques. Unfortunately, the film is so convinced its a thriller, that it often willingly sacrifices some of the key elements of superhero movies that make them so enjoyable; as a result, the film is almost all build-up, with little pay-off. Ultimately, the pay off is great, but Unbreakable doesn't balance its genres well enough for it to be in the top ten of either, but it stands alone quite beautifully as a rich and haunting tale.
