Effortlessly slick, Reservoir Dogs is not only Tarantino's debut feature but his beginning of filmography of confidence and mass violence. Shot in one location, Tarantino manages to keep the tension high, and the dialogue slick. At one moment your laughing, the very next to your in horror at how vile some of our characters are. Every performance is balanced against the other. At one moment Mr. White (Harvey Keitel) takes center stage, then, suddenly, Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen) is pulling off the coolest, yet most terrifying, torture scene you've ever seen. Admittedly, the film isn't quite as fluid in pace as Pulp Fiction, but for a debut feature, Tarantino seems to tick all the boxes while adding his own!
