  War for the Planet for the Apes is suspenseful when it needs to be, and subtle when it demands for emotional connection. It's crazy how Matt Reeves unfolds a story here through the use of hand gestures and nuanced facial expressions - it almost feels like a silent film. The film makes you understand the goals of each side, even it's a bit lacking at times. And I also find some exposition scenes slow and boring.
