Disney clings on to their usual character cliches, (in particular that goddamned "annoying parent/grandparent who wont allow the protagonist to follow their dreams" cliche) cliche stories (protagonist breaking tradition set by harsh parents to follow their dreams), and emotional manipulation. The twist reveal is unsurprising as well. Overall the film really does say how many flaws people can ignore in a film if disney made it.
