I've had a tumultuous ride with Love Actually. There have been umpteen times where I've been at a gathering and someone has announced a viewing of love actually. Groans from boys and giggles from girls proceed yet I keep an open mind. Bill Night is in it, it can go wrong! And, this must be some strange scientific phenomenon, everyone we get to the fourth or fifth scene and someone turns it off. For the longest time, love actually was the shortest of short films.

Finally, after the void in my festive heart grew to a size too big for any festive fellow, I sat down and watched it. Actually.

I loved it! An ensemble romcom with festive cheer, sentimental cheese and some comedic scenes which far surpass expectations. But then, with Richard Curtis Manning the ship (or sleigh perhaps) I was always going to smile.
