  • WHAT I LIKED: Steven Soderburgh's Oceans series was always about fun, twisty heist movies buoyed along by a bit of humour and some snappy editing, and this sequel 'Ocean's 8,' is no different. It follows Danny Ocean's sister after her release from prison, her plan to steal a very expensive necklace, and her enlistment of a number of other women to help with the task. The group's dynamics are funny (helped by the fact that the cast is such an eclectic mix of great stars) and the heist plan is well-explained and intricately executed to make it a satisfying-enough watch overall.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The plot is perhaps not quite as clever and twisty as the best in its series, and without Steven Soderburgh, the overall direction isn't quite as slick either.

VERDICT: A fun sequel to the Oceans series that scratches all the same itches as its predecessors, 'Ocean's 8,' may not be troubling any emotions or provoking too many thoughts, but it's a fun romp, and that's all it's trying to be.
