  • Fight Club is a modern classic and, for the life of me, I can’t understand why. It certainly should be interesting: quirky characters, quirky story, quirky directing and editing, but it turns out to be less than the sum of its parts. For example, the twist ending... you can see it coming from a mile away. The Narrator is too messed up not to have some kind of severe personality disorder. The supporting characters, though quirky, add little to the already disjointed film. I’m not a fan of David Fincher. His films are visually stunning, but he lacks a necessary storytelling ability. So many people love this movie, but it just doesn’t work for me on every level that makes me love film.
