  Rise of the Planet of the Apes was my favorite movie of 2011, and boy is it a fantastic reboot of a franchise that was nearly dead in the water. The movie is complex and layered, exploring the side of humanity one can only see if they step out of their comfort zone. The action and the tension presented in the movie is incredible, especially because the characters are so well developed and fleshed out. Rupert Wyatt sets up a trilogy bound for success, blending palpable tension, grand set pieces and a smart story-line to deliver one of the best reboots of all time.
