X2 is a wonderful sequel, as it greatly expands on the achievements of the first film. It takes a darker and grittier approach towards the X men films; as it delves deeper into the turbulent relationship between mutants and humans. Hugh Jackman is great again as foul mouthed, and hot headed wolverine. In this film Logan's past is explored in painful ways;through the presence of William Stryker. The mutant hating person who made Wolverine into the man he was. I really enjoy the characters in the film; as it brings about new elements to our favorite characters from the first film, and it introduces us to comic book icons like Nightcrawler in splendid ways. The action sequences in this film are amazing; giving us some of the best images of our favorite characters (especially Wolverine). X2: X-Men United is a brilliant sequel as it follows the example of Empire to create a darker tone for this film which is still greatly enjoyable. In a film which sent the benchmark for superhero films to come.
