For weeks I've been hearing about how great this movie was, and I was readily prepared to be slightly disappointed by the hype. Was I disappointed? Not even a bit. Edgar Wright manages to strive to even greater heights with this lovable, fun, and fast action-crime thriller. Wright really excels here with beautiful cinematography and brilliant writing. It stars an exceptional lead performance from Ansel Elgort as Baby, yes B-a-b-y, Baby. He shines in this movie, and we can only expect more greatness in the near future from this rising star. His counterpart Deborah played by the dazzling Lily James act together with great chemistry, as the romantic relationship fits surprisingly well with the rest of this different and incredibly fast paced film. The dynamic between the members of the heist group is superb. No doubt due to the wonderful performances from the high end actors involved, such as Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, and Kevin Spacey. Along with Eiza Gonzàlez, they all give their best in great performances. Now the "driver" in this movie's title is no mistake, as the car chases in this scene are phenomenal. I really want to know how much of it was actually practical as the sequences are simply unreal. What really excels this action filled car chases to new heights is the brilliant soundtrack. What's special isn't necessarily the songs (even though they are great), but how they intergreated into the scenes expertly and brilliantly. Everything down to a single beat works perfectly in every scene, this is also a product of the amazing cinematography work. So I was not disappointed at all with film, and it definitely ranks among the best of this year. It is well worth a watch.
