  • Going into this one, I had really low expectations. The reason is because of what this movie stands for, and I didn’t want to overhype it. By doing that, I walked out of this one satisfied, and definitely glad I saw it. My biggest plus with this movie was that the characters were very interesting, which made you really care about what these people were doing. The villain of the film was fantastic, but there is definitely more to learn about him and his overall plans. The performances from the actors who were playing these characters did great jobs, especially Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and James Earl Jones as Darth Vader. The actual plot was great, as it felt huge in scale and very important. I was also very surprised by how great the special effects held up. They were mostly on the level of 2001: A Space Odyssey, which is a huge plus for me. The set’s were also incredible, as they felt huge and really pulled me into the world. The action in the film was pretty great, especially the final sequence, which was just fantastic to watch. I do have a huge problem with the film though, and that’s the first twenty minutes. Yes, the first scene of the film is great, but from the time that ended to the first time we met Luke, the movie really dragged on. Overall though, I did really enjoy the first star wars film, and can see why so many people love this franchise.
