He fooled me again! Everytime director Bong leads me in with comedy and then kicks me out with gut wrenching drama.
A seething anti-establishment picture of poverty in rural Korea, Memories of Murder is a deceptive thriller which is, in fact, not a thriller at all.
Director Bong consistently pleases and coaxes any audience in to the story and then begins to throw in satirical, yet stinging, criticisms of government bodies and class divides. Memories of Murder may not be as smooth in its tonal changes as Parasite but it is captivating the whole way through with magnificent performances from all cast members.0 member like this review.
