Despite some genuinely intriguing themes and interesting sci-fi concepts, Jupiter Ascending gets bogged down by minutia and an overly complex plot. The tonal inconsistencies compounded with a genuine inability to relay information properly create a narrative that's very hard to get on board with. The result is an interesting sci-fi world that not only fails as a story, but as a movie-going experience.
