  • WHAT I LIKED: Moore's last hoorah as 007 'A View to a Kill,' largely carries on in the vein of its predecessor 'Octopussy,' with a high-stakes story that sends Bond on a wild goose chase in which Moore looks a whole lot more desperate and dishevelled than usual. This time he's in pursuit of Christopher Walken's brilliant villain Zorin who has a scheme very closely resembling Goldfinger's, and Bond constantly runs after clues as to what he's up to. This makes for often engaging viewing as Moore sells the desperation well, and when you couple that with some of the series' most memorable set-pieces, you've got yourself a relatively engaging Bond adventure for the most part.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The trouble is that Moore is 57 in this one, so all the running around he's doing doesn't really sell because you never believe it's him doing anything other than the sitting down bits. That wouldn't have been such a problem if they went for the smoother, calmer Bond we got in the likes of 'The Spy Who Loved Me,' or 'For Your Eyes Only,' but the things he's asked to do here are frankly absurd and don't feel tailored to Moore's age at all.

VERDICT: A slightly shaken James Bond is sent on a wild goose chase that would have worked a lot better if Moore wasn't 57, 'A View to a Kill,' may leave you stirred at points, but it's hardly going to be troubling the top of the tree when it comes to Bond movies.
