Yeah this is not good. I'd heard a lot about it, people telling of its 'so-bad-its-good' quality, so when I found it on DVD I had to buy.

The film is funnily bad, but not as funny as I would've liked. A lot of scenes I found very boring, due to dull performances and an increasing irritation with the plot. In the original Wickerman, not much makes sense but you can grasp strands of understanding. Here, nothing makes any kind of sense. The matriarchal control with the bees and the flowers, and there is the crops, but there is also the bees, and the honey is sacred so we don't eat it but we sell it online and, oh yeah, we have a website but we are pagan. Infuriating.

That being said, the humour level gets turnt all the way up when Cage dons the Bear Costume and, in true Adam West fashion, proceeds to bang smack and wallop all the elderly inhabitants.

I have to say, at times the film has more parallels with the original than one would have thought. But, in missing the Religious conflict of the original, the film fails to bring a weighty message. Perhaps they were trying to achieve this with the matriarchal controlled island but this fall's flat on its face.

Overall, it's worth watching for the bear costume.
