A mixture of Knives Out and Get Out, replacing racism with classism, Ready or Not rides on a central gimmick which is both funny and tense; but mostly funny.
The film consists of a variety of laughs, ranging from merry to macabre, all the while our protagonist goes from horrific trauma. It's underlined, bold social message is excused under the pretence of comedy as one quickly compliments the other.
Samara Weaving nails it as a scream queen while remaining absolutely empathetic throughout. It's such a joy to see a horror protagonist do things which are abundantly obvious. Escape! Oh, you have!1 member likes this review.
