  • WHAT I LIKED: Without a shadow of a doubt the thing that this film does best is to establish a brand new set of brilliantly quirky characters in a way that makes it feel like you know and understand them already, and that's really no mean feat despite what many would have you believe. Yes, whilst 'Suicide Squad,' has received criticism for many very valid reasons, it does at least get its main task very right indeed which I suspect is largely down to the meticulous character work of David Ayer. Credit should also be given to some excellent performances from many of the stellar cast members, and in the end this great characterisation means you're genuinely engaged in the situations at play.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The problem comes with the fact there just aren't enough situations that play out. In fact, there's virtually no events or plot points to test these great characters, which in the end makes the movie feel somewhat thin and messy at the centre.
VERDICT: This is the best DCEU effort yet simply because the characters engage. Once you're there though, there are precious few events to hold on to.
