Pretty much my favorite comedy movie, and easily my favorite zombie movie, Shaun of the dead made horror watchable for me, a task that is not very easy to do. Granted, Edgar Wright's direction of comedy and writing skills are unparalleled, but that doesn't detract from the mesmerizing experience I had when I first watched this film. I was in constant awe of the comedic and directorial risks that were being taken, and shocked by how entertaining the action was; Shaun of the dead is a movie that blends its two genres so seamlessly well, that you'll forget they're stark opposites, and rather buy into Edgar Wright's magnificent world, and be involved in the situations he subjects his characters to. Let's not forget about Nick Frost and Simon Pegg's legendary chemistry, and their notably sharp comedic timing, which ultimately, allows the film to succeed as what it is. Shaun of the dead was a risky movie, and no other horror-comedy has had the same effect on me, either because it didn't take those same risks, or Edgar Wright and the crew just did it better.
