To revive a franchise, nearly disparaged by the previous installments, and to make a record amount of money, while introducing a brand new generation to the Star Wars mythos, and get them excited for future films. This film had arguably the toughest task of any movie ever, and boy did it deliver. With new characters as layered and intriguing as the ones from the original movies, the story plays out as fertile soil for these characters to start to grow. Kylo Ren, for me is one of the best villains of this decade, and the best villain of 2015, for his unhinged personality, and vulnerability that he displays in his fits of rage. Rey, Finn and Poe, all have the potential to become iconic characters in their own right, and the force awakens allows for that. The action is impeccable, giving us an eye popping Space Battle, and a hair-raising lightsaber duel between our protagonist and our antagonist, to cap off the thoroughly entertaining experience J,J Abrams orchestrated. The film may thrive on and imitate the successful beats of the original trilogy, but the fresh blood and fantastic action overshadow the evident familiarity,
