  • WHAT I LIKED: 'Blues Brothers' is all surface - a couple of cool criminals on the run from almost everyone trying to play with their awesome soul band in a story that spirals further and further out of control and gets increasingly, increasingly ridiculous. It'll slap a smile on the face with its relentless humour, and the musical numbers and the soundtrack that accompanies the stuff in between is enough to keep the foot tapping too. Couple that with a fairly engaging comedy duo at its centre with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, and you've got yourself a reasonably fun cult movie to while away a couple of hours to.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: There's really nothing more to it than that. The characters aren't developed at all, the humour is silly, the action is ridiculous, and everything becomes a little relentless in the end.
VERDICT: A relatively fun, stylish cult movie with some great music, 'The Blues Bothers' is ridiculous and weightless entertainment, and absolutely nothing more.
