Training Day benefits from having brilliant performances from Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington which won the latter an Oscar. The movie manages to portray to the audience the complex moral aspect of the characters, as during the well written dialogue between the two we are able to see their motivations and way of thinking. It also has great action sequences which stay thrilling and extremely suspenseful throughout. Where this movie falls short for me is around the later half of the second act, where it begins to feel like a different movie entirely due to the film trying to extend a few different plot points at the same time. However, the climactic moments of the film were extremely suspenseful and thrilling, and the film didn't really leave any ends loose. Altogether Training Day was an enjoyable and exciting watch with great action and good direction.
