    One of the best ever:

Being the first to review this on FilmFed, I feel it is my duty to speak for the masses, and proclaim this as one of the greatest films ever made. This is absolutely essential viewing for anyone who cares about film as an art, it pushed every boundary, broke half the rules in the book, and revolutionised cinema for many many years to come.

It's hard to know where to begin with 2001, but one thing is for sure, Kubrick is at least 90% of the reason it is so great. One of the strongest visionaries of all time, his genius can be seen in every shot, every movement of the camera and every groundbreaking stylistic choice. Whereas other great films feel like a collaboration between experienced professionals, whose shared expertise combined into a fantastic final product, 2001 feels like one single mind pulling all the strings. Kubrick nails absolutely everything here, camera shots hold long and steady, making it all the more shocking when shaky handheld camera comes into play in intense scenes. Visual storytelling is employed like never before (I suggest you watch the lip reading scene), particularly in the presence of the omnipresent, frankly terrifying HAL 9000, who is hands down one of the best villains of all time. Philosophical questions are posed beyond human understanding, enchanting cinematography is oozing from every frame, and one of the most iconic scores of all time plays throughout.

Oh yeah and there was this cool jump cut
