  • Mr. Smith Goes To Washington feels achingly relevant over 80 years later (despite serious racial neglect) and still manages to successfully chew out the myth of the flawless American system. More of an indictment on America that Capra might've intended, the film exudes a sort of universal individuality about it's protagonist's goals that exceed America, ultimately opposing Graft and Corruption everywhere. While the notion that there are still good people who stand up for what's right might be a bit saccharine, Capra and Stewart do it in style, and with some seriously powerful substance to back it up.
