Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark stands as probably the best action adventure film ever made. It's another film from Steven Spielberg's already larger than life collection which stands at the pinnacle of film making. As if Harrison Ford's career could get any better after starring in a role seemingly made for him with the character of Han Solo, however, an equally brilliant and legendary role came to him in a film that has defined him as much as those Star Wars films have in his impressive and well celebrated career. Indiana Jones a well liked, and dashing professor who just happened to be one of the most brilliant archaeologists of his time. He's character is legendary in the film world, and rightly so as this film portrays. The plot is nearly, or even as iconic as the characters them self. As Indiana Jones battles the Nazis for the treasure of the lost ark, we as an audience are treated to great performances, superb action sequences (that definitely stand the test of time), not to mention memorable dialogue. The story is well paced and stays relatively light hearted throughout. Keeping itself mostly believable even with its subject matter, and thoroughly engaging throughout. This film is most likely a masterpiece which benefits greatly from having one of the best characters in film as it's lead, and from wonderful directorial work as always from Spielberg. A wonderful film to say the least, and well worth a watch.
