  • “The Darkness” is a movie about a family vacation gone wrong, after spirits lying on the caverns followed them to their home. And as what as expected, this is going to be another poltergeist movie, this time, dealing with ancient evil.

This movie has an intriguing premise that we have never heard before from the standpoint of the horror genre, but it turns out to be another series of horror clichés that we have all seen from other horrible horror films - fake jumpscares, senseless disturbances like squeaky floors, opening faucets, strange noises and black handprints, which takes an hour to show it to the audience, where it gets too repetitive and irritating in a while.

There are a lot of scenes that have no reasons to be a part of the movie. The scares and thrills lead to nothing and never give any edge of the seat experiences while watching it. Plus, there are shaky cams for most of the parts.

VERDICT: It's got a haunted house, Native American ghosts, Mexican ghostbusters and Kevin Bacon with his family. So what could possibly go wrong? Well, everything.
