  • WHAT I LIKED: A telling and politically-relevant account of the release of the Pentagon Papers in an 'All the President's Men,' style journalistic thriller, Steven Spielberg's 'The Post,' is a thoroughly engaging and very interesting experience that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Yes, thanks in large part to Spielberg's experienced directorial hand and John Williams' brilliant score - but also thanks to a story that focuses on the people at its centre - you can guarantee that this film will have you constantly on the edge of your seat and gripping the arm-rests as you're swept up in its unfolding story. It's a great watch, and it was only made possible in its six weeks of production because of the incredible veteran-like experience of everyone involved.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Its frantic pace means that it never really gets to the bottom of its political significance, but that's never been Spielberg's style anyway.
VERDICT: A gripping and interesting account of the release of the Pentagon Papers, Spielberg's 'The Post,' is made by some of the most experienced hands in Hollywood, and it definitely shows.
