I, Tonya manages to be a truly engaging, and interesting true story. What I really love about this film is that the incident in question is so brilliantly represented in the film. As someone who is too young to even be alive during this incident I didn't really know what to expect coming into the film. However, I was utterly thrilled at the layered and nuanced story Craig Gillespie is portraying, and how he masterfully represents different perspectives in this issue that make it truly captivating. All the performances in this film are top notch. Sebastian Stan is truly great as Jeff as he further enriches his CV. Allison Janney is magnificent as LaVona, and she looks like a shoe-in for a nomination now. Last, and undoubtedly the best was Margot Robbie as Tonya herself. This is exactly what Margot Robbie needed, and she is truly breathtaking and oustanding in this film. She completely sells the flawed yet truly poignant character of Tonya Harding, and is just excellent. I hate to end on a downer, but some minor things in the movie didn't work completely for me. Such as CGI in some of the skating sequences, and some story aspects I would change. Still an incredible film, and one of th best of the year.
