  • Holy crap, I love love love this movie. Most people know it was shot over a period of 12 years, and that makes the movie work so much better than if they changed the actors over time. Everything in this movie is familiar- the growing up in the early 2000s especially- because the music, the clothing, the hair changes, the themes are so on point. The acting was incredible- Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke everyone is just fantastic in this movie. I can relate or know someone who can relate to everything in this movie, with the divorces and stepsiblings to the slightly emo kid that "just wants to do whatever he wants." But it's not cheesy. Its wrapped so beautifully together into a wonderful coming of age tale that I'm not even mad about the nearly 3 hour run time, because that's what this movie needed. Every person has to grow up and this movie takes you through all the stages of a middle class family and their struggle. It's a lovely film and I highly recommend it.
