The towering acting of Denzel Washington and Viola Davis is reason enough to see this movie. I was fortunate to see the Broadway revival of August Wilson's play in 2010 with its stars: Tony winners, Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. And while Denzel's film direction adheres to "opening up" the settings, there are times when scenes may feel a little "stage-y". But its power is certainly well contained.
