  • WHAT I LIKED: 'Manhunter,' is certainly a film that deserves all the recognition it gets as an edge-of-your-seat suspense thriller which put director Michael Mann on the map. Building on his promising work with 'Thief,' Mann takes the chance to construct a properly investing central character and an interesting narrative around his clearly expert ability to build tension, and what you get as a result is something properly engaging that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Parts of it are a little illegible in the plot department, and the use of music can occasionally be jarring.

VERDICT: A film that shows off Michael Mann's tension-building talents within a well-developed character story; 'Manhunter,' is properly engaging, edge-of-your seat stuff that deservedly puts this director on the map.
