  WHAT I LIKED: It can at least be said for 'Iron Man 2' that they did choose an interesting direction for Tony Stark's character on paper, as seeing him struggle with his newfound responsibility and the mataphor of the suit literally poisoning him as his life falls apart has some real potential.
  WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The problem is however that the film seems to have no confidence in that premise, as it largely turns its tragic character situation into one big running joke. Yes from the opening, to that awfully misjudged party scene, or any moment with Pepper or Black Widow, we get to see Tony spiralling further and further out of control, and yet sadly it's all played for laughs. That's a problem because it belittles a character that many of us had grown to really love in the first movie, and it's single-handedly what makes this the only film in the MCU that I actively dislike.
  Couple that with a fairly clunky villain plot and a third-act set-piece that's easily the least enjoyable bit of the film when it should be the most celebratory, what you've got is the biggest misstep of the MCU far - a horribly misjudged and badly-executed movie.
  VERDICT: A film that takes a potentially interesting character study and belittles it by playing it all for laughs, 'Iron Man 2' is a big let-down after its great predecessor, and is still by far the worst movie to come out of the MCU.
