I was filled with a sense of dread when a sequel to A Quiet Place was announced. Who wasn't? So, after a year of waiting, and subsequentially forgetting, for this movie, I was pleased to find I enjoyed the sequel as much as the first installment. It's as tense as the first one and the characters are just as endearing. Krasinski's choice to upgrade Millicent SImmond's Regan to main character status is a perfect choice. True, it does mean Emily Blunt and Noah Jupe get left behind storywise yet, ultimately one becomes so engrossed in the tension that it doesn't really matter.

There are plot holes, as there were in the first one. Anyone can question countless things about the world, whining 'why didn't they just threaten to scream?' or 'Can't you just live underground?' Personally, I try not to get bogged down in questions like this. Sure, they could've done that. But they haven't. There was only one moment when I questioned a character's judgment and that was a clear choice to move the plot along, so I went with it. Ultimately, theorizing about what could have been is a pointless task and distracts you from the film itself.

Should there be a part three? Well while I do want more, especially about the rest of the world, I wonder how long the gimmick will last? Krasinski will have to crank up the feels machine to invest me in his next installment. I think he's up to the challenge.
