  • WHAT I LIKED: A crime-thriller with real depth; Ben Affleck's 'The Town' isn't just great edge-of-your-seat cops and robbers stuff, but its brilliant narrative genuinely allows you to understand both sides too. Indeed that's a rather rare thing in this genre, and here it's made possible by the character relationships and accompanying social themes, and the fact that Aleck then delivers that with such perfect pace and judgement as well as a brilliant supporting cast makes this one hell of a movie that probably doesn't get quite enough credit overall.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Some of the characterisation is a little off, and that means it's difficult to get truly invested in the crucial central relationship.
VERDICT: A thrilling ride that engages you with its great narrative on one side and its gritty elements on the other, 'The Town,' is another great film from Ben Affleck that shows the director jumping from strength to strength.
