  • WHAT I LIKED: Like any great spoof or satire, 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,' turns up the dials and exposes all the stupidity in whatever thing it's riffing on. Here the thing in question is of course the Bond series, so what we get is an agent who makes clear that when you strip away the charm and sophistication, all you're left with is a rubbish, detestable, womanising pig. Of course he still gets the gadgets, the girls and the guns though, and his mission is a success in spite of his idiocy, and that makes for plenty of hilarity and amusement.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It's nothing more than the ridiculous spoof it's trying to be, but there's nothing wrong with that.

VERDICT: 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,' is a hilarious spoof of the already ridiculous Bond series.
