    Brawl in Cell Block 99 is a brutal and filthy look on life in jail that is overly depressing and difficult to watch. I don't know if the movie is supposed to be effectively pessimistic, but it's totally despairing instead. It takes an hour to finally watch Vince Vaughn at the front line of action in Cell Block 99, but at the end, there isn't a moment where I empathize for him.
