I was searching for something to watch on Netflix when I came across Walt Disney Pictures' THE FINEST HOURS.

The Finest Hours stars a great ensemble that is, unfortunately, not given much to work with. Also, it didn't help that these fine actors gave us possibly the worst New England accents I have ever heard. From the moment I heard the first few lines of dialogue, I knew how incredibly artificial this movie would be. I began to commit the cardinal sin of surfing the web while watching a movie. That wouldn't be the only time I picked up my cell while watching this.

The visual fx were rather bad, in my opinion. So bad that whenever there was a shot of one of the many actors, it was incredibly obvious they were standing in front of a green screen. This, for me, is not good because it will pull me out of the story and I start to focus on those things as opposed to the story.

It did have the potential to be a good film, but it simply did not cover all its bases. I was just asked whether or not I enjoyed this film and all I could respond was that I was indifferent about this. By the end of the movie, I couldn't care less about anyone on screen. I didn't even care what happened to these characters. The whole emotionalism/triumph-in-the-end feel it was going for was simply too heavy-handed and forced. As I mentioned earlier, it was too artificial.

Overall, it may appeal to many movie-goers. It just didn't do it for me.
