  • WHAT I LIKED: Like many vaguely comedic sequels, 'Home Alone 2,' broadly follows in the exact same footsteps as its predecessor. Kid is left alone over Christmas and has a lot of fun, is often scared, learns to fend for himself, and ultimately comes to realise the importance of family all over again. That means you get all the same fun all over again, and the only real change is that rather than being left at home, he's left in New York city. This makes for some more amusing and sightly tense moments which are once again revelled in well by director Chris Columbus, and a more varied setting overall.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It really is re-treading the same steps, and the nagging question of whether this really could have happened to the same kid a second time hangs over the whole thing like a bad smell.

VERDICT: 'Home Alone 2,' is more of a repeat than a sequel, and that means you get all the same fun. You may as well just watch the first one though...
