There is need for any big boos or gotchas! Instead, Ring uses uncomfortably static camera blocking and well timed visual and audio stings, alongside an iconic B-movie USP, to deliver a haunting film.

The horror lies in the unseeing eye, everpresent as soon as out characters view the tape. As an audience, we too view the accursed video. Does that mean we are watched too? Do we have a week?

The static camera and that one week period encourage a reflection. Whether this be on humanities' evolution as a species, a criticism of technology, or as a reflection on the self and our own vices.
