Much like Get Out, The Thing will have you screaming at your screen. In this case, "BURN IT BURN IT." I found this film horrifying. The tension was unbearable as everyone is a potential blood firework waiting to go off. And, of course, the gore effects were perhaps the best I've ever seen. The most grotesque otherworldly filthy viscera which you can slither along your skin.

Kurt Russell is endlessly badass, as is Keith David now that I think about it, while John Carpenter lends his brooding eyes to the camera which dolly's slowly and fixes determinedly without pulling away. The Thing is the definition of the horror.
