Not quite a classic, but still a very entertaining film, 'Ocean's 8' is a awesome heist film. All of the actresses are 100% terrific in these roles. They carry the film, that does fall into genre cliches many times. Read the full review »

Probably my only flawless film this year. 'Upgrade' is a stellar sci-fi horror film, that has the undeniably stylistic Leigh Whannell touch. He truly is a treasure. Read the full review »

A stellar comic book film, with the highest stakes of any Marvel film thus far. Absolutely a ball to watch all these characters fight (and lose) together, and has possibly the best twist in any comic-book film. Not the tightest film as far as writ... Read the full review »

”Animation isn't a genre. It's a medium” is a quote that I find really interesting. On the surface level, it's just a juxtaposition contrasting the use of animation for different genres. But, on a deeper level, this is an idea that rings doubl... Read the full review »

A incredibly well executed exercise in well-paced psychological horror. Between the incredible performances (especially Toni Collette's), and the incredible direction, this is not one to miss. Read the full review »

Paranormal Activity 2 is scarily identical to its boring predecessor. A successful low budget horror that made a profit and then some, the original was sure to get a sequel. You betcha bottom dollar we got a sequel, and guess what? It's exactly th... Read the full review »

Coming-of-age tales are typically restricted to the teen crowd. Stories of a lost innocence or new-found acceptance that empowers the central character in a way which emboldens them to tackle the world around them. Though it’s not atypical for s... Read the full review »

Almost 15 years have come and gone since the original “The Incredibles,” the well-received 2004 Pixar film about a superhero and his equally super suburban family. This money-milking, awkwardly timed sequel feels not only dated but also comple... Read the full review »

'To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar' is both campy in nature and execution. In a position where I've never watched an overwhelmingly camp film in my life, it was time to change that. As you know, I like to tackle each sub-genre with... Read the full review »

John Wick: Chapter 2 is beautiful and violent with a lot of things it sets out to do. Maybe too much to a fault. Also, some cheesy dialogues come here and there, and the action scenes try too hard to imitate Kingsman: The Secret Service. While it'... Read the full review »
